ความเป็นมาของ Decentraland

ในปี 2016 เป็นช่วงการพัฒนาที่เรียกว่ายุค “Bronze Age” ทางทีมพัฒนาได้เพิ่มโลก 3 มิติเข้าไป มีการแบ่งที่ดินออกเป็นแปลงย่อยเพื่อพัฒนาสภาพแวดล้อมที่สามารถรองรับการทำงานโดยเฉพาะกับการสร้างแอปพลิเคชัน การสร้างเนื้อหาที่สามารถตอบโต้กันได้ และยังเพิ่มเครือข่าย P2P ต่อมาในยุคของการพัฒนาถัดมาเรียกว่า “Iron age” เป็นส่วนที่ทำงานด้วยเครือข่าย Ethereum ซึ่งทำหน้าที่เป็นซูเปอร์คอมพิวเตอร์เพื่อสนับสนุนระบบนิเวศโลกเสมือนจริง หรือที่เรียกันว่า Metaverse

ผู้สร้าง Decentraland

MANA ใช้งานสำหรับอะไร?

MANA คือโทเคนแบบ ERC-20 และเป็นสกุลเงินหลักของ Decentraland โลกเสมือน (Metaverse) ระบบนี้ทำงานบนบล็อกเชน Ethereum ทำให้ผู้ใช้สามารถซื้อที่ดินดิจิทัลได้ด้วยการเผาโทเคน MANA เพื่อแลกกับ LAND ซึ่งเป็น NFT (non-fungible token) แบบ ERC-721

การกระจายเหรียญ MANA

Decentraland ได้ทำการขายโทเคนเสร็จสิ้นเมื่อวันที่ 18 สิงหาคม 2017 หลังจากทำยอดขายได้ครบตามเป้าหมายของโครงการและระดมทุนได้ 86,260 ETH มูลค่า 25 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐในขณะนั้น หลังจากการขายเสร็จสิ้น โทเคน MANA จำนวน 2,810 ล้านเหรียญก็ถูกสร้างขึ้น

Ari Meilich, an experienced entrepreneur, has a background in founding companies. Before Decentraland, he launched an online translation service and a CRM platform. He also worked as an analyst for Charles River Ventures, a leading venture capital firm in Silicon Valley.

Esteban Ordano, the co-founder and former CTO of Decentraland, has an extensive technology background. What is MANA Used For?

Initial Token Sale

Decentraland concluded its token sale on August 18, 2017, after successfully meeting its funding goal of 86,260 ETH, equivalent to approximately $25 million at the time. A total of 2.81 billion MANA tokens were created.

Participants in the token sale received 40% of the total supply (1.12 billion MANA). A tiered pricing system was implemented, selling 1,000 MANA for between $0.024 and $0.04. Due to high demand from a relatively small number of large investors, the sale concluded within 35 seconds.

Allocation to the Foundation and Community Reserve

The Decentraland Foundation and the community reserve were each allocated 20% of the total supply (561.2 million MANA). The founder’s allocation was vested over a three-year period, with vesting occurring twice a year.

Ongoing Token Releases

Subsequent token releases were planned, with an 8.00% increase in supply in the first year, gradually decreasing to 6.06% in the fifth year and 4.65% in the tenth year. The proceeds were used to fund the ongoing operations of the Decentraland Foundation.

Genesis City Auction

On December 15, 2017, the Genesis City auction, also known as the Terraform Event, sold 90,000 parcels of LAND, the platform’s initial land area. An additional 40,000 parcels were allocated to community-defined districts based on user proposals. LAND was initially priced at 1,000 MANA per parcel, with subsequent parcels auctioned at a minimum of 25% higher than the previous bid, resulting in some LAND parcels being sold for as much as 80,000 MANA.
